Clyde Lee Montgomery, a devoted family man, entrepreneur, and faithful servant, was born on January 22, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Lorene Montgomery Gort. Clyde was the oldest brother to Thomas Gort, Sr., and James Gort, Jr. He was raised by his mother, Lorene Gort and stepfather, James Gort, Sr.
Clyde attended Fort Worth Schools and later moved to Dallas where he went on to build a successful career as the owner of Fantastic Building Maintenance, a janitorial service company he founded in 1975 and operated until 1994.
As a business owner, he was recognized by the Pylon Salesmanship Club as Man of the Year and was Vice President of the Pylon Investment Club. On February 16, 1963, Clyde married the love of his life, Erma Jean Chatman and they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Clyde’s family was his greatest joy, and he was blessed with five beautiful children, Michael Rolland, Alesia Montgomery, Cherita Stokes (Lawrence), Ericka Thompson (Eddie), and Leslie Thompson (Jeoff).
A member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Clyde loved participating in worship services when his health permitted and he especially enjoyed the Antioch Male Chorus.
