Cornelius “Neil” Augustine McGlennon III of Keller, Texas, passed away on April 9, 2023 in Grapevine, Texas at the age of 70. He will always be remembered as a humble man with a great sense of humor, who loved his family and friends wholeheartedly. He was born on June 27, 1952 in Canton, Ohio to Dr. Cornelius Augustine McGlennon II and Mary Elizabeth O’Brien. He has three siblings: Seton, Nan (and Russ) Hewitt, and Tim.
Neil grew up in Short Hills, New Jersey, and graduated from Millburn High School in 1970. Neil was a proud veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1972 to 1976 during the Vietnam conflict. During his service tenure in Florida, Neil met his loving wife, Cynthia, whom he married in 1979.
Neil was a builder at heart with an immense passion for art and architecture. To that end, he attended University of Florida where he graduated high honors with degrees in both Architecture and Building Construction.
After graduating, Neil made architectural dreams a reality, by leading large, complex building construction projects for the Beck Group for over 18 years. Many of these buildings define Dallas’ skyline and metroplex today. Neil’s final construction project, the Nasher Sculpture Center, gained him the admiration of Mr Ray Nasher, who asked Neil to serve as the Administrative Director and Vice President of the Nasher Sculpture Center for over 20 years.
Neil also built a wonderful and loving family that cared deeply for him. Neil is survived by wife Cynthia, sons: Cornelius Augustine McGlennon IV, Dr. Matthew Ryan McGlennon, John Andrew McGlennon, and Stephen McGlennon, and grand-children: Cameron and Cornelius Augustine McGlennon V.
Neil’s hobbies included sailing, drawing, woodworking, building, playing with his dog, Izzy, as well as spending time with his close-knit family.
Special thanks to the Nasher family for being a cornerstone of friendship and love, as well as Jeremy Strick for his steadfast support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nasher Sculpture Center’s annual fund at nashersculpturecenter.org
