On the morning of August 1, 2015, Blake passed away outside Crawford, TX, due to cardiac arrest while mountain biking with friends. Blake enjoyed outdoor sports and raised money running in marathons and participating in ultra long distance bike rides on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
He was born on May 3, 1985 in Dallas, TX. Blake graduated high school from Jesuit College Preparatory where he enjoyed football, rugby, wrestling and volunteering at the Austin Street Shelter. An active Boy Scout, Blake’s Eagle Scout project was creating an acolyte training video for his Episcopalian Church.
Through Children’s International Summer Villages, Global Volunteers and Jesuit Medical Mission, he was selected numerous times as a U.S. representative to international volunteer, conflict resolution, and relief programs in Bosnia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Denmark, Honduras, Italy and the Philippines.
From an early age, Blake had an insatiable appetite for adventure and an intellectual curiosity that led him to travel all over the world. He was a voracious reader enjoying history, philosophy and politics and always maintained a humanitarian heart that reached out to others in need.
After studying finance at Wake Forest and Forensic Anthropology at the University of Tennessee, he went on to earn a degree in Political Philosophy from the University of Dallas while making the Deans List each semester. Following his degree and passion for politics, he worked tirelessly in Texas and Oklahoma for various local and state election campaigns. He recently began a position as assistant to Dallas City Councilman Adam McGough and was beginning his MBA program at the University of Dallas this fall.
Blake remains a cherished son of Michelle and Richard Anderson, compassionate brother to Monica and Richie Anderson and Chrissi and Chris Crampton, favorite uncle to Sofia and Leonardo Anderson and Madeleine Crampton, and a beloved grandson of Jean and Ken Anderson and Nan and Ed Creel. He remains cherished by his many Aunts, Uncles and cousins as well.
