Daniel Marden Miller died in his home on December 13, 2014 of heart failure. Daniel was born on April 19, 1949 in Dallas, TX to Lois Jeanne and Edgar Marden Miller. Dan attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, TX where he honed his beautiful singing voice as the lead in many school plays. He went on to graduate from TCU with a business degree in 1971. Dan notoriously spent all of the money his father gave him for college tuition on flying lessons, and then drove a taxi cab to earn the money back on his own. When he picked up a fare that turned out to be employees of his father he was caught, only to be respected for the entrepreneurial effort. He continued to pilot his own airplane around the country for most of his life. Dan was a man of many talents and passions, including world travel to far off destinations for exploration and deep-sea scuba diving trips. He excelled in business very early on in life, where he worked as a bond trader for many Wall Street firms, before starting his own investment management business. Dan was a very generous son, father, husband, brother and friend and will be missed. He loved the finer things in life, was always quick with a witty comment and cared deeply for his family and friends. Dan is predeceased by his mother and father, and son Douglas Clifford Miller.
Dan is survived by his son Maxwell Marden Miller and daughter Christina Marie Miller, his brother Mark Miller and wife Diana and his 19 first cousins. He is also remembered and mourned by many other family members and friends including Pamela Miller, Coco Duenas and family; and associates and friends from all around the country. Services will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral on Friday, December 19 at 4:00 PM, with brief reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please send donations in his name to Homeward Bound at www.homewardboundinc.org.
