Danna Clare Waldman Simon was born in 1939, the daughter of Ruth (Siegel) and Charles Waldman. She is survived by her beloved son Beau and his wife Daphne, her granddaughter Dylan, and her adored sister Judith Ringer. Danna also leaves behind her nephew Jason Ringer, her niece Jill (Pete) Anderson, and her grandnephews Sawyer Montag and James Ringer. She loved her cousins, notably including Andrea (Loren) Weinstein, and her cousins' children. Danna also loved her stepchildren, Debbie (Ronnie) Jackson and Dolph (Elizabeth) Simon, Jr.
Danna graduated from Highland Park High School in 1957 and from SMU, majoring in English literature and Spanish.
Danna was a person of many talents and interests. She was a consummate grammarian and editor and a voracious reader. Danna was an accomplished pianist, businesswoman, and bridge player. Her life was enriched by art (especially Impressionism), music, and theater.
In addition, Danna was a volunteer for Literary Instruction for Texas (LIFT) and a docent for various local arts organizations. For many years, she volunteered at Contact, a (former) non-profit phone bank for women in crisis, where she also served as a trainer for new volunteers.
Throughout her life, Danna was an engaging raconteur, with an excellent sense of humor. She was a compassionate, caring friend and a great listener. Danna uplifted those around her, and she was always available to help others. She was a particularly grateful person, who expressed her appreciation freely and eloquently. Danna led a full life, her impact will live on, and she will be sorely missed.
