

Darrell Giles Plymell, 84, of Paradise, Texas, went home to be with his Lord December 2, 2021. Darrell was born to Leon Hoke and Mary Lola Plymell. He grew up with his sister, Patsy, who he lovingly referred to as “Patsy Pop.”
He graduated from Paradise High School and attended Decatur Baptist College. He later transferred to University of North Texas (UNT). Darrell was drafted and served in the United States Army where he was known as “Old Tex.” During this time, he completed his education via correspondence and earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from UNT. After university, Darrell moved to Dallas where he pursued a career in computer programming.
Once in Dallas, he met and fell in love with his beautiful wife, Paulette Hassell with whom he shared 56 loving years of marriage. They had two daughters, Darlette and Darrine and a sweet dog named Penny. In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed bowling, playing checkers, and spending time in his tomato garden, which reminded him of his hometown farm in Paradise.
Darrell was predeceased by his father Leon Hoke Plymell, his mother Mary Lola Giles Plymell and his sister Patsy Plymell Von Huvel. He is survived by his wife Paulette. He is also survived by his daughter Darlette and her husband Mark Sikes and their children Christopher, David, Jacqueline, Amanda and her son Kingston. In addition, Darrell is survived by his daughter, Darrine Molina and her daughters Tabitha, Kylie, and Holli Molina.
