David Leeper Bond, MD, 94, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on June 17, 2025. Born on April 8, 1931, in Denison, Texas, David was the beloved eldest son of J.D. Bond and Lois Leeper Bond, who preceded him in death.
David graduated from Denison High School in 1948. He attended Kemper Military School before attending Southern Methodist University earning a BS in Biology in 1952. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1956, then completed an internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1957. He finished his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Baylor in 1960. Dr. Bond became Captain Bond for two years of service in the USAF. Dr. Bond subsequently dedicated over six decades to practicing OBGYN in the Dallas–Garland area as a founding partner of Women’s Clinic of Garland. Upon closing his private practice, he worked for almost a decade with the Baylor Family Practice Residents program. He dedicated his last years of practice volunteering at Hope Clinic of Garland. He was a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and maintained his Texas medical license well into his eighties.
David and his devoted wife, Juliana Lofland Bond eloped and were married, on August 31, 1950 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Together, they raised two children, David Lofland Bond and Lois Anne Bond. He was a loving grandfather to Hayley Michelle Bond and Andrew Cameron Bond and cherished every moment spent with family.
David served terms as Chief of Staff at Memorial Hospital of Garland and Head of the Ethics Committee at Baylor Hospital Garland. He loved being a member of South Central ObGyn Society. A proud Texan, David was committed to community service and volunteerism. He was an active member of the Garland Chamber of Commerce and served a term as chairman. He was known for his warm bedside manner, and enjoyed mentoring younger physicians and supporting local health initiatives. In his free time, he was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, football, and wine and would get a twinkle in his eye if he had the opportunity to share tales from the golf course or about his Denison childhood.
David’s compassion, integrity, and steady sense of humor earned him deep respect among patients, colleagues, and family. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, both professionally and personally.
He is survived by his son, David and his wife Cara; his daughter, Anne; his grandchildren, Andy and Hayley, and her fiancé, Derek; his brother, John Richard Bond and wife, Nancy; and his many nieces, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, following a private interment at Sparkman Hillcrest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope Clinic of Garland, in honor of David’s lifelong dedication to women’s health, SMU, Baylor College of Medicine, or the charity of your choice.
