Del Ray Sloan of Garland, born in Grand Saline, Texas on August 23, 1939, passed away June 25, 2013. He was employed by the City of Dallas as a Superintendent over Public Works from 1955 and retired after 24 years of service in 1989. He moved to Wills Point where he enjoyed working his cattle on his farm before returning to Garland in 2004. He was a member of the James Ladd Burgess Masonic Lodge #1305; Scottish Rite & Edwin J. Keist Eastern Star #959. Preceded in death by parents Roy & Lota Sloan. Survived by his wife Wanda of 55 years. Three children and their spouses; Ray & Paige Sloan of Forney, Tonja & Dicky Featherson of Seagoville, Pam Sloan of Dallas, sister, Jana Cox of Longview, 7 grandchildren- Ashley, Chasiti, Jeremy, Laycee, Shai, Matthew & Zachary, and 4 great grandchildren Rylie, Ryann, Madison, and Maycee. He was a hard working family man, loving husband, father and grandfather. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, June 28, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral Services to be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
