

Donald B. “Don” Norris, age 77, passed away on June 7, 2016 in Dallas. Don was born June 27, 1938 to William Clifford and Nita (Brown) Norris in DeKalb, Alabama. He joined the United States Marines in 1955 and served until 1957. Soon after he was released from the Marines, he married Peggy Blackshear on November 29, 1957 and they made their home in Oak Cliff. Don spent time working as a welder, and a general auto mechanic, Building Engineer for several nursing and retirement homes in the Dallas Area. Don was very friendly and never met a stranger; he was loved by the residents at the nursing facilities where he worked. He loved fishing and hunting, on several occasions he and his son would take trips to Colorado to hunt, camp and fish. He also loved to take his family to Colorado and spend time in the mountains camping. He loved his vegetable garden and was known for his tomatoes and onions. He was the ‘go to’ guy for everyone. People would call on Don to come and help fix anything, and he was glad to lend a hand. He was a jack of all trades. Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy, two sons, Donald James Norris and Robert Delamar, three daughters; Joyce Haines, Denise Soria, Debbie Tomlinson, eight grandchildren; Michelle Ptacek, Randy Tomlinson, Kyle Tomlinson, Jordan Soria, Jesse Soria, Jerrid Soria, Justin Delmar, and Megan Delmar, and six great grandchildren; Max, Mark, Emily, Wyatt, Seth, and Christian. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Norris, and Nita Brown. He was loved and will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all that knew him. A Memorial Service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, in Dallas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 18, 2016.
