Doris Maurine Louis Clark was born on June 5, 1929 in Caddo Mills, Texas to Loyd and Lela Louis. She passed away peacefully on December 13, 2015 in Mesquite, Texas after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was secure in her faith and confident in her eternal resting place. Her family will miss her wisdom, strength, and steadfast love.
Doris graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas in 1946 and was a proud Woodrow Wildcat. During high school she worked at the Lakewood Theater as a popcorn girl and cashier. It was there that she met B.D. “Buddy” Clark who worked as an usher. They were married on Wednesday, November 21, 1946 in the pastor’s study at East Grand Baptist Church.
After moving to Longview, Texas she worked alongside Buddy, initially in their own automotive upholstery shop. When their shop was destroyed by fire, they went to work for the Gregg Auto Glass Company. Buddy managed the business while Doris ran the front office and kept the books. Doris often commented that they spent every day together.
Buddy and Doris had two children, Patricia Joyce and Benjamin Lloyd. They were members of Longview First Baptist Church and were active in many civic and social organizations. Later they moved to Lake Cherokee where Doris enjoyed the view from their home overlooking the lake. She particularly enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and spending time there with grandchildren David, Amie, Jason, and Kristin.
Doris and Buddy moved to Dallas in 1993. She was a member of Ferguson Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with great-grandchildren Julissa, Isabel, Haley, Natalie and later Anastasia and Alexandra.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Clark, and son, Lloyd Clark. She is survived by daughter, Pat Stanphill of Marion, Virginia; grandson, David Lee of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Amie Parker of Bristol, Tennessee; grandson, Jason Clark of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Kristin Clark, of Dallas, Texas; great-granddaughters, Natalie Viars of Bristol, Tennessee, Julissa Figueroa, Isabel Clark, Haley Lindblom, Anastasia Lee, and Alexandra Lee, all of Dallas, Texas.
