Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Teresa Navra and husband Robert; grandson, Brian Thompson and wife Tara; granddaughter, Kelli Hardeman; great-granddaughter, Ryder Thompson; sister, Pat Nix; and numerous nieces and nephews that called her Aunt Dear.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Roland; daughter, Glenda Hardeman; sisters, Dollie Keefer and Janice Coulter and their husbands; brothers, Charlie Cook, Nig Cook, Shorty Cook, and Jimmy Cook and their wives; and brother-in-law, Bobby Nix.
Ryder, her 14 year old great-granddaughter, was her pride and joy. She always had a picture of Ryder with her to show it to anyone who wanted to see it. She enjoyed reading Karen Kingsbury books before she started losing her eyesight, and she loved the Dallas Cowboys but did tell them how she felt when they lost. She never met a stranger, loved to talk and laugh, and loved her family.
Dorothy and Roland owned Garland Dental Lab and she helped with the clerical work. She also worked in the medical field for many years including at the Grove Medical Clinic. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed worshiping with numerous family members and friends. She loved the Lord, and a few months ago she gave Ryder her cherished Bible to keep.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 9:00 am at Grove Hill Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
