Dorothy Zelazny passed away February 23, 2012. She was preceded in her death by her parents and seven siblings and her Husband of 69 years, Morris Zelazny. She is survived by her brother Ben Klimist of Tuscon Arizina, her son, Gary Zelazny and wife Theresa and son Charles Zelazny. Her Granddaughter Kelsey Zelazny was her pride and joy. She cared for Kelsey deeply until her last breath. Her adopted family of Tim McCaffry, Ben Bond Cathy Clark and Abbey Mandel as well as many nieces and nephews also survives her.
She was a woman born before her time. As the last-born child of eleven children, she was the self appointed Queen. During her rein, she was a creator of ideas and a “move forward” person who exhibited leadership in business and civic work. Whatever the task, she jumped in 100% and took charge. She became President of the Sherith Isreal Sisterhood and worked closely with congregation in helping it develop. Her proudest accomplishment was taking over the family business when her Husband became ill. Fortunately, after his recovery , she returned to raising her family and spending time with many friends. Outspoken to say the least, her opinions and ideas were presented whether you wanted to hear them or not. She preached honesty and fairness. Her competitive spirit lead her to Golf Club Championships. She loved to golf, dance, trips to Las Vegas and ladies fashion. She dressed to the “10.s”. She will be missed as a Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Aunt and friend. The Family would like to thank the Caregivers who gave her the best care as if they were her own Family.
An immediate family grave side service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest. The family will receive those who wish to express their condolences on Sunday February 26, 2012 at 2828 Hood Street Plaza Two Conservatory from 3:30 until 7:00pm.
