Easter Lee Jackson was born July 31, 1930 to the late Tom (Buster) Lee and Mattie Allen Lee in Doyline, Louisiana. Easter enjoyed a happy childhood at home with her siblings. She often had the responsibility of preparing all the meals for the entire family, beginning sun-up until sundown. Maybe this is where she learned to do much with less because she had some marvelous dishes that she enjoyed making. She also had a passion for sewing. Early in her childhood this responsibility of caring for her family prevented her from attending school, which she loved very much. She accepted Christ at an early age before spending a short span in New York and traveling all over. Upon returning to Louisiana, she met and married the late Ira George Jackson. Along with Ira came three boys: Albert J. Jackson, Early James Jackson and Phillip Jackson whom she adored. The family relocated to Dallas, Texas where they united with Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church. Easter, following her husband, joined the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and upon moving to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, joined Carver Heights Baptist Church. Easter and Ira became Charter members of the Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of Church School, Noonday Bible Study, Choir, and Senior Saints Ministry until her health failed. She enjoyed, so much, the interaction and fellowship with her church family. She was employed with Western Electric/AT&T as an assembly worker and took pride in her work. She always believed in the idea that “a mind is a terrible thing to waste” and was always eager to learn, so she worked and attended night school at the same time to obtain her diploma and also attend college at El Centro and Cedar Valley. Easter Jackson was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Albert J. Jackson; her sisters: Aggie Jones, Mattie Ballard, Jessie L. Douglas, Gertrude Devereaux, Emaline Bagley, and Sarah Johnson; and brothers: Robert, Ruben, Crawford, Johnnie, Thomas, Robert, and Elbert Lee. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons: Early James Jackson (Georgia) of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Phillip Jackson of Dallas, Texas; one brother: Willie Lee of Dallas, Texas; daughters-in-law: Hanna Jackson of Doyline, Louisiana and Joyce Jackson of Jewett, Texas. She also leaves to cherish her memories grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends, neighbors, a family of faith, a devoted niece/caregiver, Lillie (L. G.) Fuller, and Winfrey Ann Jackson.
