

She was born on February 5, 1912, to S.B. and Gertrude Bone. Her father was a member of John Phillip Sousa’s marching band, and started the first night watch service in Dallas. She was a life- long Dallas Resident, and attended Sacred Heart, St. Edwards, and SMU, where she was a member of Beta Epsilon Psi sorority. She maintained close relationships with schoolmates, and made many new friends all of whom she cherished. She loved to dance, and was a member of the Lairde Rockettes.
She married Spencer Elliott on September 20, 1938, and during the war she worked at Lockheed. Their daughter Carole Ann was born June 29, 1948. She was a busy mother, and served as a member of Christ the King Alter Society, Mothers Club, and Leader of Carole Ann’s Girl Scout Troop, Troop 121. Edith was also very active in the Petroleum Accountants’ Wives’ Club, Garden Clubs, and later the Merry Widows. She was a long-time volunteer at Old City Park, now Dallas Heritage Society, where she was awarded the Golden Tennis Shoe for her work. She was a dedicated artist, and very creative, including her Celebrated Christmas Tablecloth that won Blue Ribbon Prize at the Fair in 1963. . Survivors include; her daughter, Carole Ann Steele; grandson, Stan Steele; his wife, Jessica ; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Juliette Steele; two nieces, Bitty Perkins, Lynn Ann Yerger, and their families; and a nephew, Tiny Wisdom, all from Abilene. Local extended family included her beloved cousin, Mike Bone, neighbor Carol Bedford, and the Schoellhorn Family – Bent, Vikki, Monika, Jon Erik, and Kristen, and, many close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Elliott in 1981, her sister-in-law, Ruby Wisdom, and her parents, S. B. and Gertrude Bone, along with many precious Boston terriers waiting for her in Heaven.
A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:00 pm, on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX, 75225. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75225.
