Edith Inez Petty

I was born, February 28, 1921, to Lucinda and Hudy Putney in Carlton, Texas. Later we moved to Paducah, Texas, and I am the last of my generation of the Putney’s.

On February 2, 1938, I married Joseph Petty (who preceded me in death in 1978). We moved to east Texas and our first daughter was born in 1943 in Wills Point, Texas. After coming to Dallas in the 40’s, our family was extended by 3 more girls and the last one in 1959.

In the 40’s, I became a member of the Munger Avenue Baptist Church where I served on the Mission Board until we moved to the Highland Hills community in the late 50’s. Me and my girls joined Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and served in any capacity needed. I received honors over the years while serving as President of the Missionary Society until the early 80’s. I spent time with my sickly elders in the 80’s and early 90’s until my mother went home to be with the Lord.

I leave behind 4 daughters: Beverly Ann (Floyd) Gaston, Oklahoma City, OK; Wansa, who preceded me in death in 1993 (Frank) Everett, Houston, TX; Jo Ann (LV, deceased) Jones, Los Angeles, CA ; Carolyn Young, Dallas, TX; and, Teresa (Paul) Cooks, Dallas, TX; 3 granddaughters, 6 grandsons (1 deceased); 16 known great grandchildren; 17 known great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
