Eddie was born to Mary Esther Lee Boyd and Charles Rex Boyd on June 22, 1944 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from W.W. Samuell High School where he was a decorated Battle Group Commander in the National Defense Cadet Corps. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington while working for Dallas Power & Light. He retired after faithfully working there for 42 years. He also served in the Air Force Reserve for 7 years.
Having known one another since they were small children, Eddie and Jan married on August 26, 1966 at the age of 22. He is survived by Jan, his daughters Cheryl Boyd, Sharissa (Jeff) Murray, and grandchildren, Jackson (Kara), Ella and Claire Murray, brothers Bill and Rick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eddie was an avid student of the Bible and served for many years in his church, as well as Bible Study Fellowship. Throughout his life, he enjoyed riding unicycles, working various kinds of puzzles, imitating Donald Duck, and doing gymnastics with his daughters. After his last handspring, his favorite activity was cycling. He kept an immaculate yard and was always willing to help others with his masterful fix-it skills.
Since his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s, Eddie enjoyed participating in several dementia communities, including Journey (Highland Park United Methodist Church), Friday Friends (Wilshire Baptist Church), and Casa De Vida (North Park Presbyterian).
Eddie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
