Born on December 5, 1942 in Dallas, Texas, he graduated from St. Mark’s School and attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Kappa Alpha.
Burt had an innate business acumen and worked in commercial and residential real estate for over 60 years, learning the business from his father, Ed Jordan, and grandfather, Leo Corrigan. He was part of the ownership of his family’s company, Intercity Investments, where he was involved in and very passionate about all aspects of the business throughout his career.
Burt was a very kind, caring, and generous man. He made significant contributions to several organizations, including Scottish Rite for Children, Food for the Poor, Austin College, his alma mater, St. Mark’s, and more. In addition to supporting his community, he was always there to lend an ear or a helping hand to his friends, family, and employees. He never shied away from a challenge or difficulty and met everything head-on.
He was an avid tennis player and reader, enjoying books on history and science fiction as well as periodicals. He was always curious about and kept up with what was going on in the world. He had a passion for fast and exotic cars, owning some of the very best of them over the course of his life. Burt was loved and respected by many, and like his presence, his absence will be deeply felt.
He is survived by his wife, Adrianne Jordan; son, Richard Jordan; stepchildren, Avery and Gannon Morris; sister, Anne Jordan Logan; brothers, Philip (Lynnette) Jordan and Chris (Carole) Jordan; son-in-law, Yaser Wassef; grandchildren, Sarah, Mimi, and Zach Wassef; mother-in-law, Sherry Woodlee; and his secretary and close friend, Elizabeth Kowalski. He also leaves numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Jordan and Louise Corrigan Jordan, and his daughter, Laura Wassef.
A special thank you to Burt’s loving wife and companion, Adrianne, for her dedication and commitment to taking care of him.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home.
