Elaine Louise Williams passed away on September 2, 2021. She was born on October 21, 1928, in Geneseo, Illinois, to Aaron and Edith Andree. She was raised in Kewanee, Illinois, and attended Bradley University in Peoria. Elaine subsequently moved to Houston with her college friend and met Jerry Williams. They were married in 1952. In the early 60s, after their two children had been born, Jerry’s job in the oil business transferred the family from Houston to Oklahoma City, New Orleans and, finally, to Highland Park in 1964.
Elaine was very involved in her kids’ activities. She took her daughter to ballet lessons and son to golf lessons and tournaments. Their interests became hers. She organized the family’s annual summer vacation trips to Galveston, South Padre, Washington, D. C., Santa Fe, Colorado and Florida. When the kids graduated from high school, Elaine insisted they go out of state to college to get a widened experience of life. Later in life she traveled to the East and West coasts with her daughter for mother- daughter trips.
Elaine enjoyed going to church and was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved going to the movies by herself, reading, secretly watching “Days of Our Lives” and socializing with her many friends and neighbors at her garden club, book club and the late afternoon Belclaire “committee meetings”. She was the “go to” person for organizing numerous birthdays, lunches and dinner parties. She hosted memorable holiday parties each year for both family and friends. She enjoyed meeting new people and bringing them into her social circle. She was so talented at that that she introduced her future son-in-law to her daughter. Elaine was more interested in hearing your story than telling her own. Within minutes of meeting someone, she knew their life story. She made it a point to stay in touch with her lifelong friends and their families. Elaine was not only loved by her friends, but also by the friends of her kids. Everyone enjoyed sitting in her kitchen and visiting with Elaine. She will indeed be missed by those who came into her life. A close friend said Dallas will never be the same without Elaine.
The family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Phyllis Leftwich for all her devoted care.
Elaine is predeceased by Jerry, her husband of 57 years. She is survived by her children, Christopher Williams and his wife, Cheryl; Nicole Nolen, and her husband, Don. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Andree of Houston, as well as her sister-in-law, Jean Wolff of Dallas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held on September 9, 2021. Rev. Brent Maguire of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church will officiate.
