

Elton "Al" H. Scifres was born on January 8, 1926 in Raton, New Mexico to James William and Bertha Marie Scifres and passed away on July 24, 2014 in Rockwall, Texas. Al is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Davis Scifres. He is survived by daughters Valerie Cook & Sue Drysdale; granddaughter, Meredith Cook; Stan Haddock; nephew, Roger Norem and numerous other family and friends. Al served in the Signal Corp in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945 during the invasion of Emerald Island and attained the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class, earning 3 bronze stars. He began working for Servis Equipment Company in 1949. After a long and distinguished career spanning more than 4 decades in the farm implement business, Al retired as Vice President of Austin Products. Al was an avid fisherman and hunter. As a long time harmonica enthusiast, Al became a part of the Harmonica Organization of Texas (HOOT). Al was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Mesquite. He was devoted to his family and loved the Lord with his whole heart. Visitation is from 3-5pm Sunday, July 27,2014 at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 2520 Oats Drive, Mesquite, TX. 75150.
