Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Grove-Hill.com for the Jez family.
Emily Jean Jez, beloved daughter and sister, passed away due to complications from pneumonia with her family by her side. Emily is survived by parents Linda and Milton Jez, of Dallas, Texas, and Tammy Jez of Brooklyn, New York.
Emily accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized by Pastor Neil Ashcraft at Camp El Har, a summer camp owned by Scofield Memorial Church. She was an active member of Scofield Church her entire life, belonging to the youth group Heartlight as a teenager, and singing in the choir as an adult. Emily loved being a camp counselor at El Har where she worked for several summers while in high school and college.
Emily attended Bryan Adams High School and graduated in 1992. While there, she was a member of the Young Life youth group, played the clarinet in the marching band, and was active in the French Club.
Emily attended East Texas State University and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. She was on the Dean’s List and a Presidential Scholar, and graduated in 1996 with high honors. Emily was also an honored Who’s Who at both Bryan Adams High School and East Texas State University. After college, Emily went into education, teaching Reading and English for nearly ten years at Royse City Middle School. Tragically, in October 2007, Emily suffered a stroke and shortly thereafter moved into a full-time care facility.
Emily had an empathetic and compassionate spirit that was a blessing to those around her. She was a caring and devoted individual, available day or night to help a friend in need.
Emily Jean Jez will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the community. We will remember Emily’s kind and tender heart, courageous and enduring spirit, intelligence and creativity, and her tremendous love for others. She will forever be treasured.
A few folks have asked if a memorial for Emily has been set up for donations to be made in her name. The answer is yes! Emily was extremely compassionate and loved animals, especially cats. Throughout her life, Emily cared for Tigger, Mr. Cat, Simon, and Bailey. Texas Rustlers Fat Cats is a cat rescue organization that focuses on rescuing and rehoming cats in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area. They are a small organization with large needs, so any monetary amount would be incredibly helpful. You can also donate supplies or foster a cat!
If anyone would like to make a donation in her name, they can be made through www.paypal.com with the email [email protected] or by following this link: https://www.theguineapigrescue.com/donate (Texas Rustlers Fat Cats is a division of Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue).
