A time to learn: Emmitt graduated from Dunbar high School in Oakwood, TX. Emmitt was very book smart and was also a creative drawer. If you wanted to know something, all you had to do was ask and rely on Emmitt.
A time to sow: Emmitt went to serve this country by going into the Army in the Vietnam war. Emmitt got an honorable discharge. On October 13, 1975, Emmitt married the beautiful Willow Spencer (Lee). Emmitt worked at a Printing company in Dallas for over 20 plus years until it closed down. Then Emmitt started working at McCollister’s in Coppell, TX at the end of 1993 all the way up until his retirement.
A time to share: Emmitt was really good at playing basketball. Emmitt loved playing basketball with his nephews Ray, Grayling (Jay) and Stefon (Fruitcake). Emmitt was a great drawer. He once drew the whole United States map for his nephew Cedric for a school project. He was really close to his sisters Shirley Denson (Peck) and Robertha Jackson (Pookie). Emmitt had close special bonds with his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. His nephews and nieces Ray, Jay, Micheal, Stefon (Fruitcake), Cedric, L.T, Larry, Toot, Gregory, Ann, Sharon, Net, Nena, Darlene, Stephanie, Faye, Shannon, Paulette, Pamela, Margaret and Teresa would ask, call, go visit or lookout for their Uncle Wayne. Even his great nieces and great nephews would do the same. Emmitt has always been referred to as everyone's favorite Uncle Wayne. Emmitt was an extraordinary Father figure to his Grandson Keivon. He would always speak of his Grandson proudly. His apple of his eyes. Emmitt has two Granddaughters Tocquernic Berry (Shay/Taco) and Novieka Coleman (Nick Nick) with the same birthday born 13 years apart on May 25th. He loved listening to the radio of his old school jams, watching his TV of sports or old school shows, reading his daily newspaper of the sports and the comics and taking care of his loved ones and his family. It didn't matter who you were. Emmitt would look out for. Emmitt was such a stand-up person that everyone loved to be around and loved to hear talk. He would have you cracking up and would talk his noise to you at the same time.
