Ethlyn Krecek Sims was born on May 3, 1927, and went to heaven on May 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard M Sims; parents, Ida May and Frank Krecek; brothers, Pete, Elmer, Jack, Melvin, Harold, Lloyd and Bill. She is survived by son, Richard Sims Jr and wife, Deborah; daughter, Janet Daves and husband, Ed; three grandchildren, Laura Leigh Sims, Clark Daves and wife, Nadalee, Kent Daves and wife, Michelle; and four great grandchildren, Kolbie, Halston, Palmer and Perry Daves; and several adored nieces, nephews and friends.
Ethlyn was 1 of 8 children, the baby, and the only girl. She was a member of Colonial Baptist Church all her life. Ethlyn grew up in South Dallas, graduating from Forest High School in 1944 as Salutatorian. She held a few positions in secretarial and accounting after high school. But she found her place at the Friday Corporation, an HVAC Manufacturing Rep in Dallas, Texas, as Vice President.
Ethlyn raised her children in East Dallas with her husband, Milton. They lived 58 years together in an East Dallas home that he built, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
Her life revolved around her family and their needs. If she didn’t have someone to worry for, she would find someone. If there wasn’t a problem that needed solving, she would find one. For these reasons she was a blessing to all who knew her. If Ethlyn was worrying, then no one else needed to.
Her joy, Her purpose, Her gift…was being kind and loving others. God is saying: Well, done my good and faithful servant, 96 years well spent!
