Evelyn Mary Baum (Stratman) passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by her family in her home in Southlake, TX, at the age of 91. Evelyn was born in Vienna, MO, and later lived in St. Louis, where she married Daniel W. Baum in 1955. She was a devoted mother to 8 children that were raised with much love and patience by her.
In 1973, the family moved to Texas where they lived in Dallas and Fort Worth. Evelyn enjoyed all sports and was a natural in tennis and bowling. Her love of sports was passed to her children - with love for St Louis Cardinals being her favorite! She could be seen cheering at many baseball, hockey, and football games over the years for her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn and Dan were able to travel and see the world and loved to take pictures to share with the family. Dan passed away in 1995, and Evelyn continued to travel, ride her bike, play tennis, spoil her dogs, and care for many grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband and leaves her children to remember and love her: Diane (Steve), Janet (Stephen), Danny (Debra), Joanne (Jerry), David (Robin), Doug (Tracey), Cathy (Jim) and Jeff (Terri), as well as 26 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren (with 2 more special ones on the way), 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank Keri for the care and love she gave Evelyn the past 5 years. Keri became part of the family with her love for Evelyn.
A private family funeral was held on Sunday, November 9, at Sparkman Hillcrest in Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn's name to St. Jude or a charity of your choice.
