

After graduation from Emanuel High School, she moved to Dallas, Texas in 1963.
Employment:
• 1965 she was employed at the VA Hospital as an X-Ray Technologist and retired in 2005 with 40 years of dedicated service. After her retirement at the VA, she began a new career as a Security Coordinator at Morton H Meyerson from 2006 until her health failed her in 2016.
Churches:
• At an early age, Evelyn accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Hill Chapel AME Church in Van, Arkansas. After her move to Dallas, she united with the Greater South Central Missionary Baptist Church in 1970 under the leadership of Rev. A.L. Bowman. Evelyn was active in the following ministries: Sunday School, Women’s Mission, Baptist Training Union, and an active Usher.
On Sunday, March 24, 1991, Evelyn moved her membership to The “Exciting” Singing Hills Baptist Church under the leadership of its founding pastor, Dr. Howard E. Anderson, Sr. Evelyn served faithfully in the following ministries until her health failed her: Carswell Women Prison Ministry, Women 11 Sunday School Class, Dallas Life, and Usher Ministry.
On February 13, 1993, Evelyn Fowler united in holy matrimony with Leonard Chance who proceeded her in death.
Evelyn loved people and never met a stranger regardless of race, creed, or color. She will be sorely missed by her family, her church, and her many friends. Evelyn loved life to its fullest and was a die-heart Dallas Cowboy fan to the end, win or lose!
Evelyn was proceeded in death by her husband: Leonard Chance; son: Donald Carey Fowler; parents: Charlie and Eva Fowler; brothers: Charlie Fowler, Jr., Othelous Fowler; and one sister, Doris Fowler.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her many fond memories; sisters: Myra Mullins of Dewitt, Arkansas; Eva Mae Whitney of Florissant, Missouri; Celestine Wright of Dewitt, Arkansas; and Deborah Coleman of Glenn Heights, Texas; brothers: Herman (Idell) Fowler, Sr., of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Terry (Angela) Fowler, Sr., of Arlington, Texas; one aunt, Alice Butler of Stuttgart, Arkansas along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
