

F.B. Pete Goldman passed away December 13, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born in Dallas on June 8, 1921 to Felix B. & Alice Carden Goldman – his father & mother. Goldman lost his left hand in an automobile accident at the age of 4 but this did not deter his love of and participation in sports. He was a tennis, baseball & football player while growing up and a golfer later in life. He graduated from Highland Park High School & the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Business Administration. As a boy he carried a Dallas Morning News paper route. Upon graduation from college, he worked for Pollock Paper Co. for 8 years; then, joined Susan Crane Packaging Co. he left Susan Crane in 1970 and started Transland Investments Co. in 1970 where he stayed until his retirement in 1990. Goldman was a life member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas which he served as President. He also chaired the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament in 1974. He served as president of Goodwill Industries and on the Boards of the Episcopal Foundation, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Southwestern Medical Foundation and its Executive Committee, the Dallas Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of its Aviation Committee, The Lighthouse for the Blind, Metropolitan YMCA, Park Cities YMCA, Dallas County Community College Board and was a member of the Southwest Football Officials Association. Goldman was a member of the Citizens Council, The Chancellor’s Council of the University of Texas-Austin and the Advisory Council of the U. of Texas School of Business Administration. Goldman was the recipient of the Charles Cameron Sprague Award and Distinguished Alumni award of the School of Business Administration of the U. of Texas-Austin. He was Mayor of the City of University Park from 1994 till 1998 after serving as council member for four years and on the Planning & Zoning Committee for six years. Goldman served as a board member of the First City Bank of Dallas, the Valley View Bank and Fidelity National Bank. He was a member of the Dallas Country Club and Preston Trail Golf Club of which he served as President. Goldman, an amputee, worked many years with young amputees at Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. His wife of 64 years, Josephine, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Donald F. Goldman & wife Collene, daughters, Patsy Tankersley & husband Gene and Jane E. Goldman and seven grandchildren: Ginger Goldman, Dharol, Emory, Trace and Colson Tankersley, Laura Nieske and Chris Currie. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, TX 75230.
