

Florene Prewitt Freeman, 91, of Dallas, Texas, passed from this earthly life December 7, 2013 . She was born January 29, 1922, in Malakoff, Texas, the daughter of the late Leasea Bennett and John Henry Prewitt. She had 4 sisters and 5 brothers. She moved to Dallas at an early age and graduated from Crozier Tech High School. On July 3, 1941 she married Jack E. Freeman, who preceded her in death February 14, 2012.
She was a kind and gentle soul who always put others first and encouraged them in all their worthy endeavors. She worked for Sears and Roebuck during WWII. Later she was Secretary at Urban Park Elementary School during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. She was honored on several occasions by the P.T.A. as well as the D.I.S.D. for her dedicated service and loyalty. She enjoyed hosting teas for her beloved teachers of Urban Park. She retired in 1978 after a 25 year career. She was a devout Christian and was a faithful member and teacher at The First Baptist Church of Urbandale . She loved to bake cakes and pies for the sick and shut-ins in the church and community.
She loved her family very much and is survived by son Paul J. Freeman of Dallas, grandchildren Leasa Milligan of The Colony, Derek P. Freeman and wife Stephanie of Little Elm, great grand-daughters Leigha Milligan and Maddie Freeman, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Her sweet smile will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by brothers Cornelius Randolph Prewitt, Otto Prewitt, J.W. Prewitt, Floyd Prewitt and Herbert Prewitt; also by her sisters Aline Matthews, Bessie Mae Powell, Willie Mae Frazier and twin sister Lorene Blackmon, beloved friends Polly McEldowney, Deney and Dorothy Caperton.
