Frances Ingram Grimes passed away peacefully in her sleep on Fri., Dec. 19, 2014. During the Vietnam War Frances served as an officer in Selective Service. She had strong convictions that all able bodied men regardless of socio-economic status should serve their country in times of crisis. Frances was a long-time member of NARFE active in many roles including president of the Texas Chapter. She volunteered her time for Senior Source fighting for the rights of the elderly. Frances was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Tyler Street United Methodist Church. She also was a diehard fan of the Texas Rangers and Nolan Ryan especially. Frances regularly attended games at Arlington Stadium during the 90s while Nolan Ryan was a starting pitcher for the team. She will be forever remembered for her independence and strength of conviction. Frances was preceded in death by her only daughter, Ellen Ruth Grimes. She is survived by her brother, Bob, her grandchildren, Carla, Vincent, Elena and Marcia and great-grandchildren, Corrine, Alexz, Kyle, Adam, and Ashtyn. Services will be held at Laurel Land at 2pm, Tues., 12/23/14 and will be officiated by Rev. Cheryl Jones.
