

Frances Jeanne Wofford Smith went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2021. She was born on November 17, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to Clinton Jefferson Wofford, Sr. and Irma May Faulkner Wofford. She was married to Dr. H. Donald Smith for 61 years and raised three children.
Frances was predeceased by her husband Donald, her brother Clinton Jefferson Wofford, Jr. and her parents Clinton Jefferson Wofford, Sr. and Irma Faulkner Wofford.
She is survived by her three daughters; Sharon and husband Russell Logan, Hawkins, Texas, Cynthia Smith, Hawkins, Texas, Elizabeth and husband Richard Beadle, Dallas, Texas; and two grandchildren, Micah Crusius of Dallas and Rachel Crusius of Tijeras, New Mexico.
Frances graduated from SMU on August 29, 1952, and married Donald on August 30, 1952, in Dallas, Texas. After Donald graduated from Baylor Dental College in 1954, he served active duty in the Army and he, Frances and Sharon were sent to Berlin, Germany. Their second daughter, Cynthia, was born in Berlin three years later.
Frances and her daughter Sharon both loved researching their ancestors and enjoyed taking genealogical trips to Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky Tennessee and Utah. Frances was a member of the Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia, Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her paternal grandfather, Joseph Wofford, was captured at Vicksburg during the War between the States, before his 15th birthday.
The Smith Family were members of First Baptist Church for many years. They later attended Scofield Memorial Church and Redeemer Bible Church in Dallas. In 2013, Donald and Frances moved to Tyler, Texas.
Frances will always be remembered for her faith in the Lord, her love and dedication to her family, and her devotion to her husband and her three daughters. Jesus came first and her family came second. She was an honorable Christian woman and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a celebration of Frances’s life, with a graveside service, held at Sparkman Hillcrest on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Craig Lacy officiating. After the service, refreshments will be served in Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W Northwest Highway, in Dallas.
