Francisca Garcia de Luna

Francisca Garcia de Luna, age 78 of Dallas, passed away on July 24, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 17, 1937 in Reynosa, Mexico, the daughter of Estanislao Garcia Valdez and Petra Villareal Lopez. Francisca was married to Reyes Z. Luna.

Francisca, known more affectionately by her family as Panchita, loved traveling with her family, especially to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed being active by dancing and walking to many places nearby. Her family will remember her warm smile and the many events that they spent together, including birthday parties, her grandchildren’s soccer games and other family events. She was a great cook, specializing in her tamales. Panchita enjoyed playing Loteria and Conquian and could play for hours. She also enjoyed her ice cream and pecan pralines, and was known to race to get the candy from a broken piñata for her grandchildren.

Panchita is survived by her husband, Reyes Z. Luna; children Alma D. Hernandez and husband Cipriano, Gerardo Luna and wife Teresa, Alex Luna and wife Sandra Perez, Reyes Luna, Jr., Imelda Pichardo and husband Martin, Fernando Luna and wife Francis; 27 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; siblings Leandro Garcia, Olivia Elizondo, Ismael Garcia and Ninfa Chavez. Panchita was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 4-8 PM, with a vigil service at 7 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 29 at 10 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
