April 26, 1968 – May 05, 2020
Fredrick “Skida” Williams was born through the union of Wiley D. Williams and Dorcus Ruth Smith in 1968 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the youngest of 8 beautiful children.
He attended Eastern Hills High School where he graduated in 1986. His love of football afforded him to attend Ranger Junior College and later matriculated to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where her earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. There he was a member of the Golden Lions football team, a faithful member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and a vital part of the music team for the COGIC club college choir. This love of football also afforded him to be on the workout squad of several NFL teams.
After graduation, he married his sweetheart, Denice Coleman, in August of 1992. To their union he has two children – DeMarea L. Williams and Fredrick L. Williams, Jr. They resided in Arlington, TX for over 20 years.
Fred was an ordained minister and exuded a passion for worship. For over 20 years, he was the minister of music at Destiny Point Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Renee Fowler. He demonstrated a great faith in Christ and was committed to each and every ministry he was ever the Minister of Music for, which was countless. He later heard the call of God and became the Minister of Music at Legacy Church
of Fort Worth under the leadership of Pastor Jonathan Stringfellow.
Fred was a very positive and upbeat man with a gentle spirit…he NEVER met a stranger. His musical gift and talents afforded him to be one of this nation’s most prolific songwriters, composer, recording artist, singer and musician. Many of his works will live on in the hearts and through the lives he touched. There will a great void in the lives he touched in the music industry.
Fredrick Williams was preceded in death by his father, Wiley David Williams, Sr., his mother Dorcus Ruth (Smith) Williams and his sister, Wilma Jean (Williams) Music. He leaves to mourn his wife of 27-1/2 years Denice (Coleman) Williams, his only daughter DeMarea Lanice Williams and his only son Fredrick Lamar Williams, Jr. Also left to mourn are his brothers Wiley (Stella) Williams, Jr., Kenneth Williams and Charles (Tammie) Williams; his sisters Carolyn (Ernie) Johnson, Toni (Brent) Butler and Latriece Williams. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins are left with their fond memories of their “Uncle Skida”.
“Your heart was unmeasured, your worship was unfathomed, your music was unmatched and your love was unending…MAESTRO, rest in peace. We love you and will never forget you.”
