Gary Lynn Owen

We are heartbroken to share that our beloved dad, Gary Lynn Owen, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025, at the age of 77. He worked for many years as a roofer, a trade he took great pride in, before retiring.

He loved the simple pleasures in life — sitting outside with his beloved dog, Honey, no matter the weather, sipping coffee from morning to night, and jamming to his favorite tunes on the radio. Those quiet, familiar moments brought him peace and joy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oppie Reed Owen and Ella Belle Owen; brothers, Elton Owen, George Melvin Owen, Glen Owen, Billy Joe Owen, Alton Reed Owen, Jesse Ray Owen, James Chester Owen, Henry Lee Owen, Bill Wedgeman, Alvis Wedgeman and Clifton Wedgeman; sisters, Louise Wedgeman Anderson and Hazel Owen Kirksey.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Diana Owen; his brother, Modoc Owen (Carol); his children, James Lynn Owen (Shannon), Lee Owen, Kendra Conatser (Carl), Geri McNair (James), Yancy “Blue” Owen, and Jordan Owen Conatser. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Conatser, Chelsea Maxfield (Matt), Jaci Phiefer, Abby Owen, Ally Owen, Arry Owen and their mother Rani Ann Crow; great-grandchildren, Robyn Maxfield, Lela Mae Conatser, and Ashton Maxfield; his brother-in-law, Michael Weesner and Tommy Weesner (Vicki) and many other numerous extended family members and friends.

A special thank you goes to Kendra Conatser, who was by Dad’s side in his final hours, providing comfort and care. We are also deeply grateful to Ashley with Alinea Family Hospice for the exceptional compassion and support she provided during this time. Also, to Mike Weesner, who helped to provided care for Dad for the past ten years. The family deeply appreciates the many prayers, kind words, and support received during this difficult time.

Gary’s legacy lives on in the memories, laughter, and stories shared by all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
