Geneva grew up in Seagoville where she was the youngest of seven children, including two brothers who died at birth and one brother, Carl, who was Missing in Action during the Korean War. She was raised in the Assembly of God Church. Geneva married Jerry Baggett in January of 1957. They lived in Mesquite until 1963, when they moved their family of five to Duncanville, Texas. Geneva was a homemaker and a mom that was always available to her children, never missing a performance or game in which they participated. She enjoyed planning family driving vacations through the mountains across the country, painting, crafting, and playing the piano. Geneva led the family to First Christian Church in the early years in Duncanville and served many years in the women’s ministry. Her love for the Lord translated into her preference for gospel music. In her later years, she so loved being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her last years were spent making new friends at Monticello West.
Geneva was predeceased by husband, Jerry Baggett; daughter, Sandy Rachels; son, Ricky Baggett; parents George and Mabel Martin; siblings Al Martin, Carl Martin, Pete Martin, George Martin, and Bobby Martin.
She is survived by daughter, Jana Long (Larry); granddaughters, Jennifer Hilburn (Les) and Whitney Rachels; great grandchildren Lane Brown and Kaia Hilburn; sister, Geraldine Burden; nephews Bud Burden (Kathy) and Jim Burden; many other relatives, friends, and the residents and caregivers at Monticello West.
