Before meeting his true love, Edna, he worked as a Steelman at the United States Steel company.
George loved spending time in his hometown of Groesbeck, Texas visiting family and friends always laughing about the "Good Ole Times". George was a military Police always willing and ready to go above and beyond.
He was always thankful for his years with Edna and how his life turned out. George once told his granddaughters " Nothing makes me smile brighter than having all my family around".
George was preceded in death by his parents; Verna Mae Smith and George Willie Smith, brothers; Clifton Smith, Frankie Smith, Tommy James Smith and Charles Smith, sister; Willie Gleen and Betty Joe Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and faithful wife; Edna Smith, children; LeEura Smith, Lamont Smith and Dewayne Smith, grandchildren; Paige Smith, Chelsea Taylor, Lauren Smith, Blake Smith and Shay Hunter, great grandson; Princeton Curtis, sisters Shirley Smith, Patricia Smith and Mary Smith, brothers; Bob Smith, Clarence Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.
