

Gerald was a graduate of Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, and later attended the University of Oklahoma. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard, and went on to a career spanning 35 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He worked as a U.S. Post Master for 2 years in Ft. Myers, Florida, and 33 years in Management in Dallas, TX. Gerald was a Past President of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and was also a speaker with the Toast Masters.
Gerald had a great love of music. He enjoyed big band, and played the saxophone, but his appreciation of music spanned many genres: everything from Hank Williams to Tony Bennett. He even played his sax with the Tommy Dorsey Band when they came to Dallas.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Bramlett Jenkins; and brother, Orland Jenkins.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Jenkins Dorety Lane, Gerald G. Jenkins, Jr., Rebecca Jenkins White, and Donald L. Jenkins; grandchildren, Kimberly, Robin, Kelley, and Scott Dorety, David and Joshua Jenkins, Carrie Jenkins-Rawlins, Macky White, and Holly White Galvan; brother, Michael Jenkins; several generations of great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Visitation two hours prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park, where where Military Funeral Honors will be rendered by the U.S. Coast Guard.
