Gilbert Alvarado, Sr., age 78 of Ferris, TX passed away Wednesday afternoon on March 15, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White at Dallas surrounded by his family. Gilbert life began on April 22, 1938, in Cibolo, TX he was the son of the late Daniel Alvarado, Sr. and Placida (Campa) Alvarado.
Gilbert was a hardworking experienced house painter for more than 30 years and a dear friend to many. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and sharing his fishing talents with his family and friends. During his retired years he enjoyed traveling with his family to different states fishing and looking for the next big catch. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Ferris, TX.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years Diane Alvarado; his children Julia Simmons, Joyce Staten, Lidia Ramirez, Annette Alvarado, Rebecca Amador, Linda Harrison, Mary Frances Gonzalez, Daniel Alvarado, Frank Alvarado, and Gilbert Alvarado, Jr. and their spouses; his brothers and sisters Donald Alvarado, Richard Alvarado, Dave Alvarado, Kay Alvarado, Sandra Tapia, Ann Alvarado, Jean Hernandez, and Susie Alvarado and their spouses; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Preceding his death is his parents, aunts Santos Alvarado, Delores Armendariz, Hortensia Gutierrez and their spouses; uncles Ignacio Alvarado, Paul Alvarado, Gilberto Alvarado and their spouses; brothers Daniel Alvarado, Jr. and David Alvarado; sisters Linda Alvarado, Melinda Alvarado, and Virginia Alvarado; and his children David Alvarado and Cynthia Gerrero.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, April 5th at 10 am at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel and his committal at Calvary Hill North Chapel. The services will be officiated by Deacon Randy Nease. In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be made in the form desired by friends.
