GILBERT RAY SANDERS was born on May 4, 1955 in Tacoma, Washington to the parents of the late Leo Sanders and Lorraine Anderson Sanders. Preceding him in death is nephew Charles Derrough, and brother-in-law, Willie Derrough.
Gilbert attended public school in the Dallas Independent School District. He was employed with Halliburton for over 20 years.
He accepted Christ at an early age at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev R.M. Robertson.
The “Angel of Peace of Christ Jesus” came to carry Gilbert Ray Sanders into eternity on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
He leaves to cherish his memories: sister, Betty Derrough; one daughter, Porchea Sanders, three grandchildren; Davion Sanders, Nikoriya Brown and Marcus Butler Jr., great-niece, Asia Derrough, great-great-niece, Aaliyah James, great-great nephew, Cam’ron James; a very special friend, Tim Vaughn, and a host of relatives and cherished friends.
