Gloria Kelly Robinson, born Gloria Jean Kelly, entered this world on November 20, 1951, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was raised with strong family values alongside her siblings and carried those lessons of love, faith, and resilience throughout her life. Gloria later made her home in Dallas, Texas, residing in Duncanville, where she built a life rooted in devotion to family and community.
Gloria began her education at St. Bartholomew Catholic School in Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas. Continuing her studies, she attended Texas Woman’s University, majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Business, giving her an eye for style and appreciation for beauty remained evident throughout her life.
Gloria dedicated over 20 years of faithful service to Bank of America. Her long career reflected her commitment, diligence, precision and steady presence. She valued hard work and took pride in the relationships she built over the years.
Family was the center of Gloria’s world. She shared an extraordinarily close bond with her daughter, Dawn Robinson-Patrick. The two spoke daily, maintaining a connection in laughter, and encouragement that never wavered. Gloria deeply cherished their mother-daughter travels, which became some of the most treasured experiences of her life. Through Dawn’s life as a traveler and performing artist, Gloria experienced the world in beautiful and meaningful ways. She was always eager to hear where Dawn and her family had journeyed next, delighting in the stories and glimpses of faraway places.
One of Gloria’s most cherished memories was traveling to Hawaii with her daughter and immersing herself in the culture and beauty of the islands. She loved visiting wherever Dawn called home—Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Fort Lauderdale, and Los Angeles—embracing each community with curiosity and joy. She especially enjoyed rolling hills of California savoring both the scenery and the time spent together.
Her granddaughter, Kaia Patrick, was one of her greatest joys. Gloria treasured every piece of artwork Kaia created and sent to her, carefully keeping each one. Their relationship was filled with warmth, laughter, and learning. Kaia would often FaceTime her grandmother, patiently teaching her how to use modern technology, emojis, and other fun features. While technology did not come naturally to Gloria, her love for her granddaughter fueled her determination to learn. During the pandemic, Gloria learned how to use Zoom so she could attend Kaia’s piano recitals virtually never allowing distance or changing technology to interfere with their bond. Her commitment to staying connected was a true testament to her devotion.
A woman of faith, Gloria was a proud and devoted member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Her spiritual foundation sustained her throughout her life. She found comfort and strength in, all scriptures that reflected her trust in God’s guidance and protection. She also enjoyed Smooth Jazz music, which brought her peace and relaxation.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Eddie Bell Kelly and David Kelly, and her cherished sisters, Deloris Wallace and Mattie Kelly. She is survived by her loving daughter, Dawn Robinson-Patrick; daughter-in-law, Dr. Skye Patrick; beloved granddaughter, Kaia Patrick; her sisters, Linda Kelly, Kathryn Kelly, and Kathleen Kelly, brother, David Kelly Jr. and his wife Cheryl Kelly; along with extended Robinson & Kelly family and friends who will continue to honor her life and legacy.
Gloria’s life was defined by steadfast love, faith, and devotion to her family. She embraced the world through the eyes of those she loved and remained committed to connection, no matter the distance or the era. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
