She married Luis T. Ruiz on February 16,1970 and the couple had four children. Mrs. Ruiz lovingly served her family as a homemaker and was a master at crocheting. She was talented in this area and loved to crochet whenever she had the opportunity.
She also enjoyed going to local movie theaters with her family, but the thing she enjoyed most of all was visiting the casinos. She found her love of casinos at the Hollywood Casino in Illinois and once she moved to Texas, she became familiar with WinStar casinos in nearby Oklahoma. When she was not able to visit the casinos, she also loved to play the lottery and try her luck with scratch-off tickets. Another joy in her life was gardening. She enjoyed nurturing the plants and flowers at her home and did so with great care and pride. She also looked forward to "walking the farm" with her dog which brought both of them a sense of pleasure.
One of the things she treasured most was visiting her nieces, nephews, sisters and other family members. She will always be remembered as being the best loving grandmother, mother, and tia Her grandson, Chris always referred to her as "the best" which lead to everyone referring to her in that same way because she was, the best.
Gloria was an outgoing, loving person and always helped family and friends when they were in need. She welcomed everyone into her life with open arms. Since her grandson, Chris always told her she was "the best" and this was taken up by all of her grandchildren, in her final days, her grandchildren were cheering to her on the phone telling her she was, "the best." As a result, her eyes lit up with joy and she repeated to them that she was the best.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fortunato Uvalles; mother, Prajedes Cabral; son, Jose Luis Ruiz; grandson, Daniel F. Ruiz; siblings, Lupe, Ernesto, Jose Maria, Manuela, Maria Elena, Rosario; along with her dog, Lady.
