She was married to Antonio R. Zarate, her dedicated and loving husband of 48 years. Throughout the many years, they worked together to establish their family’s values and traditions. They had six children- Amelia and husband Richard Cardenas, Antonio C. Zarate Jr., Julia and husband Jesus Jimenez, Jessica C. Zarate, Amy C. Zarate, and Juan Cruz and wife Gabrielle Zarate.
Gloria was a stay-at-home mom who managed the administrative side of her husband’s business. She was such an intelligent, strong, and selfless woman who always put the needs of her family before her own. Her honesty and loyalty were some of her finest traits. She instilled in her children that family comes first and to always be there for one another. She taught them to work hard and take pride in everything that they do. Gloria wanted everyone to live life and be happy.
Gloria was an amazing grandmother to her 11 grandchildren- Sarah, Julian, Samantha, Jacob Antonio, Emily Rose, Jayme Gloria, Ethan, Mariah, Sophia Aurora, Gabriel Antonio, and Gianna. She had a special relationship with each one. They all called her Mom as she was their second mother. She was their care giver, teacher, healer, uber, Starbucks date, confidant, and best friend.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Aurora Arroyo Cuellar and her nephew, Gilbert Cuellar III. She is survived by her father, Gilbert Cuellar Sr. and her brothers Raymond and wife Carol Cuellar, Gilbert Cuellar Jr., David Cuellar, Alfred Cuellar, and Fabian and wife Rebecca Cuellar along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Gloria was the glue of the family and will be truly missed. We will miss her smile, contagious laugh, and her hugs. We have been blessed to have had her for the time that we did, and we know that she is in Heaven with all our departed family members especially her mother. We will cherish every moment that we shared and know that we will be with her again.
