Gregg Stephen Hammons

Mr. Gregg Hammons, age 64, died Thursday, February 5th, 2026, in Crowley, TX. Gregg was born on August 21st, 1961, in San Bernardino, California. Soon after he was born, his family moved to Dallas for about 4 years. The family then moved to El Paso, TX for about 4 years and then back to North Dallas where he remained for most of his life.

During his childhood and early teenage years, Gregg was a mostly happy lad and enjoyed building model airplanes, playing tennis, and riding dirt bike motorcycles. Gregg graduated high school from J.J. Pearce HS (Richardson, TX) in 1980. He attended some Junior College classes for a few years but never got any higher education.

Gregg had cognitive and emotional disorders and thus only had occasional fast-food type employment at this point in his life. He continued to live with his parents, Hal and Lee Hammons in the North Dallas area. His father, Hal Hammons, died in 2006 at the age of 82, and Greg continued to live with his mother until 2018 when he was removed from her home and placed in a nursing home in Ft. Worth, TX.

His mother, Lee Hammons, died in 2019 at the age of 91. Gregg moved on to another nursing home in Ft. Worth, and then eventually to a group home in Crowley, TX, where he died in his sleep on the evening of February 5th, 2026.

Gregg is survived by his older brother, Mark Hammons, aged 67 of Plano, TX. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hal and Lee Hammons. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.
