Mr. Gregory Tyrone Payne

Gregory Tyrone Payne was born November 2, 1952 in Malakoff, Texas to parents, Woodrow Holman Sr. and (Mother) Loretha Payne, who preceded him in death. Greg (as called by loved ones) leaves to cherish his legacy, the love of his life, his wife of 20 years, Gracie Levingston Payne; and his children, Melissa Ann Robinson and Christopher Greg Tyrone Payne.

His siblings are his sisters, Faye Lanella Payne and Woodren Ballatt; and brothers, Woodrow Holman Jr. , Woodloan Holman, Woodreall Holman, and Wooduronn Holman.

Gregory was also a beloved member of his wife’s family and from this family those who preceded him in death were: Tellie Hay, Willie Don Hay, Brenda Coleman Hay and David Ray Hay.

Those left to remember their brother-in-law are: Lonnie Ray Hay, Charles Ray Hay, Tryo C. Levingston, and Gloria Ann Levingston-Binion.

Those also left to remember him are his children through wedlock: Torocka R. L. Green, Charle E. Hay and Roosevelt Green Jr. Greg was also a proud and loving Grandfather (PaPa) to his grandchildren: David Dewayne Robinson Jr. , Jace Christopher Payne, Roland Aaron, Oliver Jackson, Roosevelt Green III, (His Kida) Ki’Aundrea L. Green, (His TeeTee) Talitha Johnson, David Johnson, Franklin Green, and Jewel Green.

Greg retired from the City of Dallas as a Code Investigator and Enforcer. He was a man of order and discipline and taught this to the coming generation by becoming a referee who was known for his integrity and honesty. He was a member of the Oak Grove M.B. Church where he studied, grew and loved God’s word. He was a man of silence that chose his words carefully and clothed them in truth. Paul described Greg’s daily agenda perfect in Galatians 1:10: Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings or of God? Am I trying to please people? If I was still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. And today, Gregory Tyrone Payne in the satisfaction of that service unto Christ Jesus his Lord. From labor to reward.
