Gregory Cecil Rives

A graduate of Skyline High School, Class of 1985, Greg went on to work as a self-employed contractor. He took pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way. Greg was the kind of man who never met a stranger and never hesitated to help someone in need. He was generous with his time, his talents, and his heart.

Greg was married to Nancy Vega for 12 years, and together they raised two children, Ashley and Jarred, who were his greatest joy. Whether he was cooking up hamburgers on the grill or making waffles for breakfast, Greg loved spending time with his kids and making everyday moments special.

Life was never boring with Greg around. He loved being outdoors and was always up for an adventure—boating, camping, riding motorcycles or dirt bikes, and scuba diving. If there was fun to be had, Greg was in the middle of it, usually with family and friends by his side. He lived life full-throttle, with laughter, energy, and a deep love for those around him.

Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Maxine Good, and Isaac and Irene Rives; his aunt and uncle, I.W. and Pat Rives; his uncle, Ronnie Suggs and his son Brian; and his cousin, Preston Richmond.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and unforgettable memories. Greg was a true friend, a devoted father, and a man who made life brighter for those lucky enough to know him.

A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, we encourage friends and family to remember him in the way he would have wanted: by sharing stories, enjoying time with loved ones, and embracing life with joy and heart.

A visitation for Gregory will be held Monday, October 13, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 13, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A committal service will occur Monday, October 13, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
