Gregory M Weeks

Gregory Michael Weeks, 62, was born an Army brat in Baytown, TX on January 7, 1954, a son of Lt. Col. Carl A. and Ellen G. (Thielges) Weeks. After moving many times, he graduated from high school in Coudersport, PA and joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While serving in Germany an accident involving heavy road construction equipment permanently damaged his heart, and he was honorably discharged. His heart never the less valiantly carried him through a good life.

He lived life cutting a wide swath, making friends and helping others wherever he went. Greg worked as a very dedicated letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 26 years at Preston Station in Dallas before taking early retirement in 2009.

Big G found the love of his life, Margaret (McClung) Sinex in Dallas also. The romance that began in1997 was highlighted with their shared love of Renaissance faires, travel adventures, family, and great music. His family and friends will always remember his Renaissance gear: green velvet spandex leggings, a big cloak, custom knee-high boots, and his vintage Samurai sword at his side. And who can forget the blue "Galactic Cruiser" van?

Greg had a devoted love for board games, especially the historically-themed, like Russian Campaign or War at Sea. Reading the whole paper and solving all the puzzles in it was another passion. Early on he was a die-hard Grateful Dead fan, following the band to various states for concerts.

Big G was a big personality! He was a storyteller, story maker, best friend, gamer, sailor, history enthusiast, Renaissance player, a rocker, movie-lover, and hard-working mailman! He was loyal, generous, loving, loved,dynamic, dedicated to family, charitable, fun, loud, and proud.

Greg is survived by his wife, Margaret Sinex-Weeks, two step-daughters, Jacqueline Sinex of Austin, and Roxanne Sinex of Dallas and 4 grandchildren; along with two brothers, Frank and Norman Weeks both of Roulette PA; two sisters, Barbara Hyde of Freedom, PA and Diane Moolick of Dalton, PA; nine nieces and nephews and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Please join us for his Memorial in Dallas on September 13, 2016 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218. A second memorial in Pennsylvania will be announced at a later date.
