

Harold “Sonny” Zweig passed away December 26, 2020. Survived by wife of 59 years, Ida Ann Golman Zweig. Children: Louis Edward and Robin Zweig, and Dr. Brian David and Lori Zweig; precious grandchildren, David Max Zweig, Lauren Faye and Tyler McClung, Matthew Alan Zweig, and Katelyn Claire Zweig; in-laws Martin and Susan Golman, all of Dallas; nieces and nephews:, Dr. Charles (Kathy) Rosin, Larry (Purnie) Meyers; Austin, Drs. Lindsay and Susana Rosin, Houston; and Dr. Jerry (Linda) Meyers, Chesterfield, MO.; Melanie Rosin, Dr. Lauren and Thomas Spanith, Houston; Max Harris Golman, San Antonio; Stacey (Doug) Baer, Dallas; Robin (Craig) Unterberg, NY City; great nieces and nephews include: Shelly (Uri) Meyers, Los Angeles; Jason (April) Meyers, David Meyers, all of Austin; Scott Meyers, Chicago IL, Laura Beth Meyers, St. Louis MO; Tatum Unterberg and Riley Unterberg, NYC; Zoe Baer and Hailey Baer, Dallas; great-great nieces and nephew: Sydnie Meyers, Philadelphia PA, Sadie Meyers and Jackson Meyers, Austin.
A native Texan, Mr. Zweig was born in Coleman, TX, on February 22, 1934, the son of the late Louie and Sophie Myers Zweig of Coleman (owners of the Hub Store), and later of San Antonio. He was the brother of the late Frances Zweig Meyers Leff, and the late Bette Zweig Rosin, and was the uncle of the late Louis Jay Meyers, co-founder of SXSW in Austin. He graduated Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, graduated UT/Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration, along with receiving his law degree there. He was a member and president of Phi Sigma Delta, presently Zeta Beta Tau. He was a member of Gabe Allen Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Free Masonry, a 32nd Degree Mason, and member of Hella Shriners.
He was the supervisor for Dr. Brian D. Zweig, Optometrist & Associates. He was a member of Congregation Shearith Israel, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Zoo, and the Kimbell Art Museum.
Private burial services were held at Shearith Israel Cemetery, Dolphin Road. Rabbi Ari Sunshine officiating. Pallbearers: Martin Golman, David Kurtz, Max Golman, Dr. Charles Rosin, Larry Meyers, Dr. Jerry Meyers, Doug Baer, and Dr. Lindsay Rosin. Honorary pallbearers include: Craig Unterberg, NY City; Alan Meyer, Larry Golman, Michael Hurst, Jon Ross, Michael Cohen, Lewis Ted Meyers, Avi Mitzner; Julius Coleman, Martin Cohen, all of Dallas; Harvey Glaser, Los Angeles, CA; Marv Greenstein, Beverly Hills; and Dr. Steve Meyers, Fort Worth.
