

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry Lee Short, who departed this life on February 14, 2026. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought strength, laughter, and love to all who knew him.
Born on September 1,1958 in Jackson, MS. to the late Margaret Thornton and Esau Short Jr. He was the second of three children. He received his early education at Clausell Elementary in Jackson, MS and Armstrong Elementary in Greenville, MS. He then continued his high school education in Job Corp of Greenville, MS where he received his high school diploma. He went on to further his college education with Delta State Community College where he received an Associate degree in Arts!
Henry accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Carmel M.B. Church in Greenville, MS. He was known for his generosity, his humor, his work ethic, his quiet strength, and his wisdom. He had a special way of giving lifelong advice through casual conversation. Supporting his family whenever, and showing up when it mattered most. Henry worked at Waste Management INC. in Greenville, MS for a few years before relocating in Dallas, Texas where he sit his foundation and established himself. After 35 years with Waste Management he retired on December 26, 2022 as a faithful and dedicated employee. Henry was a devoted father to his two daughters Natasha Anderson and Shahena Short who were the pride and joy of his life!
Henry was preceded in death by his father Esau Short Jr., mother Margaret Thornton and his younger brother Esau Short III (Buster). Henry leaves to cherish his memories his two beautiful daughter s, Natasha Anderson of Jackson,MS. and Shahena (Dalvin) Short-Glass of Dallas,Texas, three sons, Kenneth (Erica) Little, Kendrick Little, and Kyle Short of Cleveland, MS, one Sister Juliette (Ronnie)Banks of Raymond,MS. one half- sister,Allison Vaughn of Byram,MS. one half- brother Maurice Vaughn of Houston,Texas, two granddaughters Jasmine Anderson and Janelle Anderson of Jackson,two Aunts, Marocka Covington of Brandon, MS., and Mary Elizabeth Short of Gary,IN., and one uncle, Sonny Short of Gary,IN., and a host of nieces, nephews,great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. And a special friend( Leisa Pinson Short).
Though our hearts are all broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love and memory will live on through his children and all who were blessed to know him. Rest In Peace Our Beloved Sweet Angel Henry Lee Short!
