

Born Dec. 6, 1927, near Pasamonte, New Mexico, Bud was the youngest of four children born to John Ed and Hazel Smith. Bud served in the army during WWII and the Korean War. He was married for 67 years to the love of his life Jane Munns Smith.
After retiring from a successful insurance business, he continued to invest in many charities throughout the Dallas area and helped others to achieve their dreams. He was a member of the James Madison Council of the Library of Congress, a former Board Member of the National Center for Policy Analysis, The East West Institute, Wycliffe Bible Translators, the US Department of State Art in Embassies Program, and the SMU Tate Lecture Series, a founding member and retired Chairman of the Trinity Forum, and a member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church. He was a man of faith and loved the Lord.
Bud will be greatly missed by his daughter Karen, married to Jimmy Evans, and their children, Brent Evans married to Stephanie, parents of Kate, Reed, and Luke, and Julie, married to Cory Albracht with their twin daughters Elle and Abby; by his son Steve Smith and Francoise Toby and their three daughters Alize, Maite, and Celia; and by his daughter Lori Love and her two daughters Natalie, married to Sterling Ridings and their sons Jack and Henry, and Shelby Love and Chase Thompson and their daughter Maya.
Bud wishes to thank Cesar and Esperanza Ortega, Lauren Embry, and Eileen Bell for their years of friendship and service. Bud requested this epitaph to be his grave marker: End of Construction: Thank you for your patience!

A celebration of Bud's life will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home at noon.
