Herlinda M. Perez

Herlinda Munoz Perez, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Plano, Collin County, Texas at the age of 87 years. She was born in Banquete, Nueces County, Texas on January 15, 1934 and was adopted by adoring and loving parents, Francisco and Santos Munoz, who cared for her as their very own daughter.

She was raised in Orange Grove and Alice Texas. After her marriage to Jose Garza Perez on January 4, 1953 in Alice, they moved to Corpus Christi. In 1972, she relocated to Dallas as a single mom with eight of her eleven children and resided there until her death.

She was a devoted mother to her eleven children; she loved them deeply and her love continues. She had an extremely generous and giving heart and found pleasure in doing volunteer work by visiting nursing-home patients, even while her children were young. She found her greatest joy in spending time with family members.

Attending the Catholic Cursillo retreat was always the highlight of her year which she looked forward to with great anticipation. The retreats expanded her prayer life and fostered continuous spiritual growth and knowledge regarding her Christian faith. She loved to read, ponder, and pray. Her faith in Heavenly Father gave her the strength to meet and overcome many hardships, trials, and challenges she experienced throughout her life.

Herlinda is survived by her sister Maria De Jesús Muñoz Gómez, her children: Jesus (Jesse) Ramon Perez; David Perez, Amada (Amadita) P. Ortiz, Esmeralda Almanza, Sylvia Batres, Blanca Estella Morales, Jose (Joe) Perez, Adelita Solis, Nelda Shahhosseini, Cynthia Arciniega, as well as numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Reynaldo Perez, her parents: Francisco Hernandez Munoz and Santos Perales Munoz, and her husband Jose Garza Perez.
