

Dudley was born on October 4th, 1941 in Dallas TX. He joined the United States Marine Corp when he was 18 and served 8 years including 2 tours in Vietnam. He earned 3 purple hearts during his service. After he left the Marines, he attended Sam Houston State University and received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He joined the Mesquite Police Department in 1971 and served as patrolman and detective until 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Perry; his daughter, Christy Perry Smitherman; his grandsons, Cade Smitherman, Cason Smitherman, and Eli Smitherman; his sisters, Eleanor Perry and Mary Nelle Plowman and brother, Charles Perry; niece, Lisa Cravens and nephew, Elliott Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Perry, Sr. and Dorothy Nelle Perry and Yuppy Easley.
Dudley was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved serving his country and protecting others. He was adored by everyone who met him.
The services will be held on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, at The Park Christian Community Church in Mesquite. Visitation will be at 12:30 and the funeral will be at 1:30. There will be a reception immediately following the funeral at the church. His final resting place will be at Sparkman/Hillcrest in Dallas. People wishing to honor Dudley can either send flowers to Sparkman/Hillcrest or make donations to The Park Christian Community Church children’s ministry or Santa Cop with the Mesquite Police Department.
