

Ida Lyons of Dallas, TX, passed away on April 5, 2015 in her home at age 100. She will always be remembered and cherished as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was born on May 28, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Bella Semer and Max Zornow. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University and worked as a hospital dietician. Later she also earned a Master’s degree from NYU and taught home economics in the East Meadow School District, Long Island, NY. She pioneered co-ed home economics, then a rarity.
She was an avid traveler, journeying around the world to China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and many countries in Europe, Central and South America, as well as across the United States. She loved learning, was an avid reader, played piano and enjoyed attending classical music concerts, opera, ballet, and the theater.
Her greatest passion was her family. She was devoted to and beloved by her children Mark David Lyons of Gothenburg, Sweden, Paul Daniel Lyons (Betty Rothbart Lyons) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Hilarie Lyons Weinstock (Peter Weinstock) of Dallas, TX; her grandchildren Anna Lyons Dinter, Adam Willard Lyons, Jacob Matthew Lyons, William David Weinstock, and Molly Elizabeth Weinstock; her great-granddaughter Nadja Bella Barbro Lyons Dinter; her step-grandchildren Lila Rothbart Smith and Jacob Moses Rothbart Smith; her step-great-granddaughter Sonja Bergman Dinter; her sister Zena Schwartz, of Norwich, CT, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Willard Joseph Lyons.
