

Ida Genece Pendleton passed from this life October 7, 2017, at the age of 97, in Mesquite, Texas. She was born to Mays Samuel Goza, Sr. and Rowena Baldwin Goza in Calera, Oklahoma, and was the granddaughter of a member of the first and third state legislatures of Oklahoma. She moved to Dallas at the age of 8 and later moved to Gainesville, Texas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she attended Tulsa University. She was raised in a Christian home and surrendered her soul to Jesus Christ at an early age. She had been a member of Colonial Baptist Church since the 1950’s where she taught the high school Bible class as well as many other classes and was a soloist with the choir. She was gifted with a singing voice and used it in service to the Lord. She served as president of the John B. Hood PTA where she received a PTA life membership and was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James E. Pendleton, Jr. and a brother, J. B. Goza. She is survived by one brother, Mays Samuel Goza, Jr.; three children, Joyce Smith, twins Patsy and Jim Pendleton, and his wife Janenne; three grandchildren, Mindy Lucas, Casey Trolson, and Greg Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Mark Lucas, Stephanie Timsah, Mallory Trumpfheller, Evan Trolson, Lauren Sumners, Emily Lucas, Nathan Trolson, Preston Lucas; and five great-great-grandchildren, Allison Lucas, Annabelle Lucas, Mia Timsah, Amelia Lucas, and Lucas Sumners.
